Carolyn Kim leads the Public Relations program in the Journalism & Integrated Media Department. Bringing a wide range of PR experience with her, Carolyn has worked in corporate, non-profit, and agency settings. Her background includes working with national and global clients such as Chuck Colson, James Dobson, Compassion International and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Fascinated by the changing landscape of PR and digital technology, she has focused recently in helping clients develop strong digital strategies to reach their audiences.

A graduate of Biola University, Carolyn received her degree in Journalism with a concentration in Public Relations. With a commitment to communication and faith integration, Carolyn went on to receive her MA in Christian Apologetics from Biola University. For her, being an effective communications professional in the world of PR would not be complete without a solid and biblically informed worldview to guide the conversation. Currently finishing a PhD in Communications with a concentration in digital Public Relations at Regent University, Carolyn is also a speaker and author for Social Media and digital strategy.

Maintaining an active role in the professional world of PR, Carolyn is a private consultant for a variety of PR facets including branding, digital communication and conversation management. She is also a board member of the Orange County Public Relations Society of America (OC PRSA). In her service as the chair of the Community Service Committee, she was able to lead OC PRSA to receive their first national award for a philanthropic PR campaign in the PR Serving America competition.

In the academic world, Carolyn is a member of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC). She is active in both the Small Programs Interest Group (SPIG) and the Public Relations Division (PRD). Additionally, she is part of the Public Relations Society of America’s Educators Academy.
