Jerri Lee Owen began to play the piano at age five, and grew up in the music festivals of Spokane, Washington, studying piano with Trula Whelan and Sigrid Grinius. Her college music degrees are from Gonzaga University and from the University of Illinois where she studied piano with Howard Karp. Jerri Lee taught at Southwestern State College, Oklahoma, and Mankato State University, Minnesota, before joining the piano faculty at Biola University in 1982. She and cellist husband, Marlin Owen, have been active recitalists, playing as the Owen Duo and, in earlier years, as the Owen-Goldman Trio. Jerri Lee maintains a private studio of young pianists and draws them into musical events in the Los Angeles area and the Music Teachers Association of California. She is a State Board Member of MTAC and serves as the MTAC State Membership Secretary this term of 2005-2007.
