Dr. Elliott began her tenure as director of the Department of Nursing May 2008. Her academic and administrative experience includes service as a school of nursing assistant dean of academic and student affairs, assistant director of a master's entry into nursing program, and director of an international health family nurse practitioner program. She has rich experience in both undergraduate and graduate nursing didactic and clinical education and curriculum development.

International health, missionary nursing, and maternal/child health are Dr. Elliott's areas of specialty. As a nurse practitioner, nurse consultant, nurse educator and nurse researcher, Dr. Elliott has served on six continents. Her research interests are the history of Nazarene missionary nurses and the role of nursing in international faith-based community-based health care programs. Dr. Elliott has published and presented globally on missionary nursing, international family nursing, and international maternal/child care. Courses taught include international health, bioethics, leadership, research, health care systems, physical assessment, human reproduction, maternal/child nursing, and family nurse practitioner courses.

Dr. Elliott maintains national certification and clinical practice as a family nurse practitioner and women's health nurse practitioner. She is an inducted member of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International and serves on the society's Global Advisory Council. She is a lifetime member of Nazarene Health Care Ministries. Dr. Elliott is a frequent professional nursing conference and church speaker.
